Administrative Fellowship Program

St. Luke’s Health is now part of CommonSpirit Health’s Administrative Fellowship program and recruitment process. The CommonSpirit Health Administrative Fellowship is a national 18 month system-wide fellowship offered in our various operational divisions across the organization. Fellows complete four rotations over the course of a year and a half to gain exposure and develop valuable skillsets in the hospital, ambulatory, and leadership functions within their divisions. The 2022-2023 cohort will include opportunities within the operations track (2) and the mission track (1) in the Texas Division with St. Luke’s Health.

Fellow Perspectives

“The fellowship is a very unique experience, and I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to be a fellow at CHI St. Luke’s. It was very important to me to find a fellowship with an involved executive team and that is exactly what this fellowship provides. The fellows are a part of the team from day 1 and are trusted to lead a variety of projects throughout the division with tangible benefits to the organization. The leaders take a vested interest in the fellows’ development both personally and professionally. My year here was an incredible experience, and I feel I have been given the tools to flourish as a leader in healthcare.”

– Jay Ferguson, 2018-2019

“While there are certainly many great fellowship programs across the nation, I chose to apply to CHI St. Luke’s Health because of the unparalleled guidance from senior leadership and the unique opportunity to work in a highly complex healthcare environment. The fellowship allows you to lead meaningful projects, develop your leadership style and build strong connections throughout the Texas Medical Center. I learned a tremendous amount of knowledge from my fellowship and cannot thank CHI St. Luke’s Health for giving me the opportunity to learn from some amazing leaders.”

– Jamie Lee, 2017-2018

“The administrative fellowship at CHI St. Luke’s Health is a unique formative experience. From a fellow’s perspective you have the opportunity to observe and learn from executive leadership at hospital, division and national level and understand the impact of strategic decision-making locally at the front lines of patient care. The organization emphasizes meaningful project work under the guidance of engaged and supportive leadership. I could not have imagined a better learning experience for my own personal and professional development.”

– Lanie Crow, 2016-2017

“The administrative fellowship program at CHI St. Luke’s is unparalleled. It provides an autonomous experience and exposure to any unique and specific interest area within a complex organization. The fellowship has enough structure that also allows full flexibility in how facility rotations and leadership rounds are conducted. Even when I was interviewing at CHI St. Luke’s, I was confident that it would a once in a lifetime prestigious experience in my career. Just a few days into the program, I learned that the organization’s leaders viewed my work as they would from a member of their own senior leadership team. This fact impacted me and my career as it made me a much more empowered individual. It is a full year to discover or further develop your unique leadership style to prepare you for the real world.”

–  Leidy Vicuna, 2015-2016

“They say everything is bigger in Texas, and our administrative fellowship lives up to the billing. There is so much to explore within the 22,000 square miles in the CHI Texas Division as an administrative fellow. We have 17 hospitals, dozens of outpatient sites, and hundreds of clinics and other care sites at your fingertips. In fact, if the CHI Texas Division were a state, it would rank right behind West Virginia in terms of size. It’s an enormous variety of healthcare settings that you can explore as an administrative fellow.”
